Description	IPTG is typically incorporated into microbiological media along with a galactosidase substrate, such as 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl β-D-galactopyranoside (X-gal, Glycosynth product code 70045), to detect and identify important microorganisms. IPTG mimics allolactose in its behaviour towards the lac repressor, and offers an advantage over allolactose by behaving as a gratuitous inducer of beta-galactosidase. Due to the sulfur atom present in IPTG, the inducer cannot be metabolized by E. coli and therefore the concentration of IPTG remains constant. This product is dioxane free.

To prevent deterioration, the product should be stored in tightly closed containers in a freezer or cold room at -20 degrees centigrade.
