| Description |
Chromogenic substrate used for the detection of beta-galactosidase activity, producing an insoluble green-blue precipitate following hydrolysis of the substrate when used under aerobic conditions. The substrate can be used to reveal enzymatic activity of the beta-Gal (LacZ) reporter gene. X-Gal can be used for the detection of E. coli in food and water samples, and is also an indicator for total coliforms. |
To prevent deterioration, the product should be stored in tightly closed containers, under nitrogen, in a freezer or cold room at -20 degrees centigrade. The product may deteriorate slightly if exposed to light and humidity for prolonged periods.
